Oxford Teenagers in Lockdown

Subject

The Covid-19 Pandemic and Oxford

Description

"I’ve been a professional photographer for over 20 years and live in the centre of Oxford. My work has taken me to all over the country and to many countries abroad. Sadly, in a matter of days, my client order book went from almost full to completely empty as we approached lockdown.

I can’t remember a day when I haven’t taken photos, and as old habits die hard, on the first day of the lockdown I started to take a photograph each day to show how the teenagers are responding to their new life. I have set up a new blog post showing these photographs - Piranha Photography Teenagers in Lockdown Blog Post - to document the life of my teenage children - Clementine and Edmund, as they try to keep busy.

Most of the images are taken from around the house, and others while the children are outside exercising locally. I am adding a new picture a day and will continue to do this during the lockdown period. This is very different from my normal work. I am challenging myself to find interesting ways of taking shots indoors at home, and I’m avoiding clichés or boring images.

I’m pleased that Leica Fotographie International have used two of my images for their #stayhome project with photographs on this subject submitted from around the world. My friends and family are enjoying this blog and sharing the images on social media."
