Title

Biodiversity boost

Description

In a welcome boost for biodiversity and nature in Oxford, the city council has been awarded £22,405 in biodiversity offset funding by HTA Design LLP for projects across the city. In Lye Valley/Headington on the site of the old Slade Camp we'll be planting 300 metres of new hedge. The planting will provide an improved habitat and food source for wildlife and help fight climate change through carbon capture. The council will be looking to get the local community involved in the project once covid restrictions allow. In the Leys we'll be planting semi-mature orchard trees on the green in front of The Barn on Nightingale Avenue. They will support wildlife, help fight climate change and help improve a currently bare green open space for residents to enjoy. In Marston there will be a new avenue of trees along Marston Road.
