Section 28 in Oxfordshire

Title

Section 28 in Oxfordshire

Subject

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the repeal of Section 28 laws in England and Wales (18 November 2003), we are collecting memories of Oxfordshire-based people who lived while Section 28 legislation was in force, particularly those with a direct experience of how it impacted their lives (teachers, students, activists, local authority workers). We are also interested in collecting stories of young people and teachers in schools now, reflecting what it’s like to be LGBTIQA+ in education today.

Description

You can upload a photo, written story, audio or voice recording. The stories will be added to a dedicated ‘Section 28 in Oxfordshire’ collection. In future, they will be shared with the public through an online exhibition, and potentially a pop-up physical exhibition. You will need to leave your name and contact details so that the museum staff can get in touch with you to agree with you how your story will be shared in these exhibitions; please be assured that your contact details will not be visible to the public, and your name will be anonymised unless you don’t wish it to be. If you have any concerns or questions, feel free to email the community engagement officer, Marta Lomza, at mlomza@oxford.gov.uk, before uploading your story.
